Saudi Aramco World has a nice article by Graham Chandler on the excavation of Troy [Hissarlik] and the controversies that have surrounded the various digs, including the current dispute between Manfred Korfmann, the current excavator, and his critics, Frank Kolb and Dieter Hertel.
