Adventures in India, Part 32 -- Visiting Nepal

Our next destination was Nepal and to get there we had to take a flight out of the Varanasi airport. There we encountered large numbers of Muslims returning from the Hajj.

There was a long wait at the airport, but eventually we were aloft and heading north toward the Himalayas.

Nepalese terraced fields.

Approaching Kathmandu

At last, back on the ground in Kathmandu.

After leaving the airport we traveled to the Pashupatinath temple located on the banks of the Bagmati river. Here's some of what we saw along the way.

The temple complex is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is an important site at which bodies are cremated. More on that later.
