Tunisia Trip -- Part Twenty

Our next stop was at a movie set -- a desert village constructed for one of the Star Wars movies. It still stands little changed from when the movie was filmed and draws a number of tourists.

Walking the dunes.

Resting.

As we left we saw children standing along the side of the road. Our driver slowed in front of them and they came running over carrying their pets to be photographed. Of course, they wanted to be paid for allowing themselves to be photographed and I suspect that the fennecs were also for sale.

You see a lot of these camel crossing signs in Tunisia.

As we approached town we saw why. This guy was trying to cross the road, but was hobbled and could only move very slowly. Of course traffic came to a stop. Note the numerous scars on the camel's flanks. Those markings identify its owner, just as cattle brands functioned on the open range in our country.

Then it was back to our hotel to rest up for the morning's activities.
