On this day in 1755 Alexander Hamilton was born on the island of Nevis in the West Indies. His parents were not married. From that obscure and somethat disreputable beginning he rose, through sheer force of intellect and ambition, to become the most important figure in the early American republic. To a great extent the nation we inhabit today was the product of his genius.Let us all celebrate the life and accomplishments of one of America's greatest.
