To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

The Holy Father is Gone
A great man passed from us today. He, as much as any of his contemporaries on the world stage, understood and had the courage to confront forcefully the enormous challenges we have faced in our lifetimes. He got all the big things right. That was his job. He did it well. Whatever problems I have with the institution of the papacy and the traditions of the Church, I honor the man and mourn his passing. My prayers go with him. He will be missed....
