The New Face of the Democratic Party

At least it will be, if the Republicans have their way. Check them out, folks -- Ned Lamont framed by Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Kim Gandy.

This is the sort of shot Republicans dream about.

Will the Connecticut debacle have long term consequences for the Party? Who knows at this point. Right now the instinct of the political pros will be for the Party mechanism to absorb the neo-McGovernites, as they have radical movements in the past. They will close ranks against Joe, candidates will hold the DLC at arms length, and Democrat moderates will try desperately to focus attention back on local issues. There will be intra-Party turmoil for a couple of election cycles, but eventually the pros will figure out a way to accommodate the neo-Macs into a broad coalition that will have a chance of winning on the national level. At least that's what they'll try to do.

I wish them luck. Loons like these shouldn't be allowed to play politics without adult supervision.
