To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

Holland Confronts Jihad
At the press conference with Putin last week a European reporter suggested that the US is not a democratic state when compared with Holland. Well..., the Times Magazine today has a great story by Bryan Moynihan on the ways in which Islamic immigration and Jihadi actions have transformed Dutch political culture. It's very interesting and offers a nice comparison with our own recent history. Lots of food for thought here. Check it out.
