To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

Churchill yet again.
When the Churchill affair broke, both the Prof. and his sponsors at Hamilton College alleged that he and they had received death threats. At the time I was sceptical, but had no real basis to doubt their assertions. Well, I was right, James Taranto reports in the WSJ that the reports of death threats were "embellished," that is to say, false. Why should they lie? "We were just being political," they said. Being "political," I guess, justifies anything. Read about it here.
