"She Who Must Not Be Named" and I voted this morning around 8:00. The weather was chilly and gray with a light wind. Not very many people there -- a concerned citizens group that wants to stop farmers from using medical wastes for fertilizer, and a few political activists with signs, and the poll-workers. Small but steady stream of voters. Not much different from past elections.
Here's the polling site. Inside there were three poll workers and four voters. This was the first time with the electronic voting machines. Here, where there weren't many things to vote for it was pretty simple -- just a matter of seconds. A couple of voters stood for several minutes staring at the screens. They didn't seem to be confused, just figuring out who these strange names were.
Campaign reps with their signs. They didn't like having their picture taken.
Signs and word-of-mouth are the name of the game here in the mountains. There are no local TV stations. It's low-intensity campaigning. There were people on the ballot whose names I did not recognize, and I pay attention.
I'm non-partisan. Split my vote. Santorum, Rendell, Holden, Argyll. Two Republicans, two Democrats. "She" did much the same.
And just in case, some very silent voters nearby [just joking -- we have clean elections here, not like when I lived in Philly or Western Pennsylvania].
