Historians, historians

In an earlier post I opined that over the past few decades academic historians have become more and more divorced from reality. Professor Juan Cole proves my point. His obsessive focus on violence causes him to miss the real meaning of what happened in Iraq. I would hope that other commentary from within the profession would take a more balanced view of the world, but probably not. Check him out here.
