Serious Bloggery

One of the most consistently interesting and informative sites on the net is the Becker-Posner blog. It is in the form of a continuing dialogue between Gary Becker (one of the nation’s most distinguished economists) and Richard Posner (one of its most accomplished and outspoken jurists). Between them the two men bring enormous experience and wisdom to the discourse. They attract informed comments from their readers, and their responses, to the readers and to each other, are considered and thoughtful. This is not for “Hardball” or “Crossfire” fans. The current postings are on the subject of tort law reform where they draw a careful distinction between the problems and benefits [yes benefits!] associated with medical malpractice and those of class action suits. Previous postings have dealt with the government’s role in student loans, tsunami relief and the economics of catastrophic risk, global warming, and the response to epidemic diseases.

They are running a serious blog for serious people. Be warned.
