Ledeen Likes the Iraqi Constitution [sorta]

Michael ["Faster, faster"] Ledeen points out that on the subjects of Sharia and federalism Iraq's constitution is much more progressive than others in the region. He generally approves [but wants to see the final product].

Read it here.

ALSO FROM THE CORNER:

Rich Lowrey writes that he has been talking to people who say that a deal is in the works. The de-Baathification provision will be dropped [to be handled legislatively later] and the bar for regional autonomy will be raised. Apparently this will satisfy some of the Sunnis. Here's hoping so. I've been arguing that particularly issues need not be written into the constitution and would more appropriately be handled through legislative action over time. If Lowry is right, then at least some of the Iraqi leaders agree.

Lowry's comments here [and also scroll up].
