To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

Happy Birthday Charles [Darwin that is]
On this day in 1809 Charles Darwin was born. Darwin was one of the most important intellectual figures in history and it is altogether appropriate to celebrate his birth. It is unfortunate, however, that secularist ideologues should have decided to turn the celebration into an opportunity to bash their religous antagonists. They have designated today "Darwin Day" and many people around the world are celebrating Darwin's birth with feasting and toasting -- not unlike the celebrations that attend religious holidays [here] and [here]. Ironic, isn't it?
