Kurtz on the Kinsley-Estrich Squabble

Howard Kurtz in the WaPo summarizes the increasingly bitter feud between Susan Estrich and Michael Kinsley. It has now escalated to threats of legal action. Kurtz tries to be evenhanded and to use the spat as an opening to discuss the larger question of women in print journalism, but when he does so he is reduced to becoming an Estrich-style beancounter.

Read the whole thing here.

Sad, the whole thing, just sad. I used to have some respect for Susan Estrich but this is not reasoned discourse -- it has degenerated to the level of a playground brawl. Feminism [at least the kind represented by Estrich] was once a great and noble crusade. Now it has become a farce.
