She who shall not be named, just told me that Robert Blake was found "not guilty" of his wife's murder. I turned on FOX. Blake looks like he's been hit by a truck. He's stunned! He cycles between shaking, sobbing, and just sitting there slack-faced with a thousand yard stare. Occasionally his attorney comes over to say something or give him a hug, and a small, forced grin appears. Powerful stuff!
FOX is just as stunned, and the backing and filling is amazing. Everyone seems to be babbling. A few points stands out. Someone asks, "is it possible to convict any of these celebrities?" Good question. Another asks Ray Donovan's question: "Where does he go to get his reputation back?" They're falling back on a common position. The system worked. The prosecution was right to bring the case. The evidence for conviction wasn't there. The TV Judge [Napolitano?] says that Blake was now free to fade back into obscurity ["that quiet place"]. The "big hair" anchor guy is chomping at the bit, wanting to get Blake in front of a microphone. The Judge makes a good point -- this guy spent a year in jail for a crime he didn't commit. Now they want to know what can be done if he finally admits to murder. The judge says "nothing", a lawyer spouts something about federal firearms violations.
It's fun to watch TV's "C-list" personalities when they're knocked off their game. Their clueless floundering is pathetic and cute at the same time.
