To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

Leon deWinter
One of the best European blogs out there is The Free West, organized by Dutch writer, Leon deWinter. You can read it here. DeWinter is a fierce advocate for western liberal culture as are many of his distinguished contributors. Der Spiegel recently interviewed him here. He makes some interesting observations regarding the way in which welfare state economies retard immigrant assimilation to national norms and why Europe cannot integrate immigrants as successfully as the United States.
Check him out. He's an interesting thinker.
