Democrats are trying to take credit for the victory:
Michael O'Hanlon from the Brookings Institute argues in USA Today that by criticizing the administration's policy, by making it the issue in 2006, and by winning control of Congress the Democrats forced Bush to abandon his losing policy and to change course, resulting in today's measurable progress in Iraq.

Well, it's an argument at least, and as progress in Iraq becomes more and more apparent look for more Democrats to try to take credit for it. But don't be fooled -- the liberator of Iraq is Dubya.
