UPDATE:
There is more information coming out regarding Chris Stringer's assertion that two different "species" of humans competed for living space in Britain 400,000 years ago and that the competition resulted in the extinction of one of the "species." Alternative, culture based, explanations are now being offered to account for the evidence. I wrote about the original assertions in an earlier post. Here's a more complete account.
