The Times/CBS Poll results show a 5% uptick in Bush's job approval ratings. CBS calls it a "bump" but the NYT sees it as a "marked improvement."
"Mystery Pollster" does a quick, expert overview. What jumps out of the stats is the importance of the Iraq war. Of those who disapprove of Bush a majority cite the war as the reason. No other factor comes close. The Democrat attempts to portray him as dishonest seem to have failed. Few people, even among the President's opponents, accept that characterization of him. Also of interest is the fact that Bush's greatest gains have been among men, independents, and 18-29 year olds.
