The Heckling of Rummy

That guy, Ray McGovern, the "former CIA analyst," who stood up during Rumsfeld's a couple of days ago who was celebrated as a truth-teller in the MSM, on blogs, and on cable TV; remember?

Well, there's more to the story. The guy is a real fringe conspiracy nut.

Read about it here, and here.

What seems clear, as more and more of these creeps surface, is that the CIA has long been infested with, perhaps even dominated by, wild-eyed nut cases. Back before Dubya, this was the conventional wisdom -- these guys are nuts and dangerous ones. Since they have become Bush bashers, though, they are treated with respect in the MSM. But they are still a bunch of loons, as guys like McGovern are proving with every public utterance.

There have been several suggestions over the years that the CIA be abolished. Maybe it's time.

UPDATE:

Wretchard over at the Belmont Club has an extensive discussion of the exchange. Check it out here.

Andrew Sullivan at first reflexively defended Rummy's heckler. Now he's having second thoughts. He admits that in some respects McGovern is a "crazed lefty." [here]
