Tunisia Trip -- Part Twenty Four

The next day we boarded the bus for the long trip to Douz. Of course there were stops along the way. The first was in Degueche where we visited a private oasis filled with date palms, banana trees, roses, grapes and other flora.

We started with a carriage ride into the heart of the oasis.


There we were treated to a demonstration of how date palms were cultivated and the dates harvested.



After the demonstration we had some free time to wander around the oasis munching on freshly picked dates. Here's some of what we saw.









Then we were back on the bus for a short ride into town where our guide promised to show us where the women were.
