Don Surber notes the first of many, many lawsuits filed in response to Katrina.
The race to be the first politician to try to capitalize on the misfortune of Hurricane Katrina was won yesterday by Jim Hood, attorney general of Mississippi, [pictured above] who is suing insurance companies for not paying for flood coverage for hurricane victims. Never mind that the federal government handles flood insurance exclusively and never mind that states regulate insurance companies -- and hell, for that matter, never mind that insurance companies have not even had 15 days to respond to the biggest natural calamity in 99 years -- there is old Jim Hood demonizing the insurance industry. This is sue first, ask questions later. Hood has at least a year (likely two, I don't know Mississippi civil law) to file such a lawsuit. He chose to do it at the height of media attention on Hurricane Katrina.Read the whole thing here.
Sigh!
