To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

Talk With the Animals
She Who Shall Not Be Named and I went to an animal park today. Lots of closeup interaction with creatures of the animal persuasion. The big birds were particularly interesting. Being stalked by an emu is not fun -- it looks too much like a dinosaur [come to think of it, according to latest theory it is a dinosaur]. Every time I approached the ostrich enclosure the dominant male went into an elaborate display which SWSNBN insists was courtship. It knelt down, extended its wings, and whipped its head back and forth madly. We tested it out with other people and nobody else elicited the response. Apparently I look like a female ostrich, and a pretty damn hot one at that.
