To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

Europe in Decline
The latest edition of American Enterprise Magazine has as its theme "Red America, Blue Europe." The feature article, by editor Karl Zinsmeister and a supporting article, "Europe's Not Working" by Olaf Gersemann, [both available online, here] make the persuasive argument that the economic disparity between the United States and Europe will not close anytime soon and in fact is likely to widen over time. I was going to blog the subject, but Will Franklin already got there before me. Check out his nicely-illustrated synopsis here.
