To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.

Hopkins in Egypt -- Neat Stuff
John Hopkins University is photo-blogging this season's archaeological dig at the Mut Temple Precinct at Luxor. The period they are digging is New Kingdom, about 1500BC. Lots of neat pics of a real expedition along with commentary designed to educate readers in the fundamentals of archaeological technique.
Check it out here.
When I was much younger I spent a couple of summers working on archaeological sites. I remember those days fondly.
