Greens vs Preservationists

Two of the nuttier constituencies in Western political culture -- historic preservationists and green activists are going at each other over a proposed alternative energy site in Britain.

The Rotherham Advertiser reports:
Campaigners fighting to stop three towering wind turbines springing up on green belt land at Loscar, near Harthill, say the site is surrounded by evidence of Roman settlements dating back to the first century.
Read the whole thing here.

I love it when these utopian sects collide. Both sides are animated by romantic visions of an alternative dreamland and are united only by the fact that they don't like the world of today [and that they are incredible pains in the butt to normal people and seem to relish that role].

It seems that utopian true believers cannot unite, the only thing they can lose is their dreams.
