Every great film should seem new every time you see it.Ebert is right. Great films never go out of date. You can see them over and over. I once heard Ebert say that he had seen "Citizen Kane" more than forty times. I've seen it about a dozen times myself. But there are a lot of mediocre films that people go to see over and over again, too.
Roger Ebert
To clarify: the title is excerpted from Act 1 of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. The full quote goes: "Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile; So ere you find where light in darkness lies, Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes." It's a warning against spending too much of your life in scholarly pursuits.
